An innovative and student-centered music experience.
The Summer Music Festival at Choate Rosemary Hall is the latest in a decade-plus lineup of superb summer intensives for young musicians developed by Gene and Chika Wie. Our programs are focused on solo performance with orchestra, chamber music, and ensemble skill development, and feature world-class artist faculty and stellar concert spaces at the Paul Mellon Arts Center (PMAC).
SMF offers one and two-week programs for Solo Performance with Orchestra where students train and perform with a professional orchestra, aided by daily rehearsals with the orchestra principals, lessons, studio classes, and technique classes. There are also opportunities for chamber music as well as a string orchestra sight-reading course.
The Paul Mellon Arts Center is the home of Ann and George Colony Hall, a stellar concert facility with a 1000+ seat performance hall, a more intimate recital hall, and practice rooms as well as Steinway grand pianos of all sizes. Our campus has also implemented a wide range of protocols to ensure the health and safety of all students enrolled in our programs.
