An innovative and student-centered music experience.
Building on our many years of festival experiences in our numerous incarnations as the Chamber Music Workshop at Big Bear Lake, the Capistrano International Chamber Music Festival, the Capistrano International String Institute, Summer Music Festival at St. Margaret's School, and two online seasons in response to the unprecedented events of our time to serve the artistic needs of students across the globe, we are pleased to announce the return of our Summer Music Festival, taking place from June 27th through July 2nd, 2022 at the Paul Mellon Arts Center (PMAC) at Choate Rosemary Hall in beautiful Wallingford, Connecticut, USA.
Our fully in-person festival experience includes play-ins, workshops, community sharing performances, music topic sessions, and free public concerts. Programs span a wide range of ability levels for violin, viola, and cello, with courses designed to align with the cognitive needs of students of all ages. The PMAC is a world-class concert facility with a 1000+ seat auditorium, numerous recital spaces, and practice rooms with many Steinway grand pianos of all sizes.
Our campus has implemented a comprehensive set of measures, including masking and physical distancing, as well as regular cleaning of all public facilities to ensure the health and safety of all visitors to our campus. For more specific requirements, including immunization and testing, please see the details on our application page.

Our New Home
Choate Rosemary Hall
Two interwoven priorities define the Choate experience: a rigorous academic curriculum and an emphasis on the formation of character in a residential setting that allows for teachers and students to live with, and learn from, each other in important ways.
Choate also fosters community involvement and service as it prepares students to assume leadership roles in an ever-changing world. As part of its commitment to character formation, the school offers regular community-wide reflections on moral and spiritual issues, as well as exposure to various religious traditions.
Choate attracts intellectually gifted and motivated students from diverse backgrounds whose commitment to serious study is enhanced in this personally supportive and academically challenging setting. On a campus that inspires a particular sensitivity to beauty, teachers — who share genuine respect and affection for young people — impart an enthusiasm for life and for learning.
