Program Placement
We recognize that each student that applies to our program has unique needs, and we strive to serve players of all ages and ability levels regardless of their background. Our Artistic Director, after reviewing audition materials in consultation with area faculty, will make all final program placement decisions for student applicants. In some cases, this means that students of exceptional ability and/or need will have their assignments customized to best serve their personal growth and overall festival experience, beyond the static definitions of our published class descriptions. Our mission as educators is to seek a seamless integration of artistic experiences for all students in a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes creativity, equality, diversity, and access.
Submitting Recordings
All applicants to the Summer Music Festival must submit a video recording of their playing within the past year as part of the application process.
Individual applicants to all programs should submit a single video recording of a work that best demonstrates their current ability level on their primary instrument.
Audition videos should be uploaded to a video sharing site like YouTube (set as unlisted) or uploaded to a cloud share (Google Drive, Apple iCloud, or Microsoft OneDrive--due to usage issues we no longer accept Dropbox). Those links will be submitted in the application.
